The original shirt is in the collections at the Hennepin County Historical Society. The square cut, drop-shouldered style with underarm gussets is the most common style of the first half of the 19th century. The suggested fabrics are: Cotton sheeting for the body and a fine linen for the collars, cuffs and plaited fronts. You may also make the entire shirt of a cotton calico and the detachable collar out of a cotton or linen. This shirt style with multiple cutting lines for all sizes are contained in one pattern package. Chest sizes 34-40 require 3 Yds. of 45 inch wide fabric; chest sizes 42-54" require 3-7/8 Yards. of 45 inch wide fabric. Perfect for an 1800's Wild West or Civil War Era period accurate shirt. Also excellent for Johnny Depp's shirt as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, 2010.
