This is the pattern for the Greenland Tunic Type 2, also known as G63, a garment found in Greenland and carbon dated from 1280 to 1400. Although found on the edges of Europe, men's gowns of this type can be seen in period paintings as far away as Italy. Suggested Fabrics: plain or twill weave wool. Yardage Requirements: 5 yds at least 60" wide or 6 yards 45" wide. Notions: thread. Detailed instructions, including embellishment instructions and historical notes included. Found in 1921 among 70 textile pieces excavated from Greenland in 1921 from a site comprising seven distinct types of wool gowns, two types of hoods, wool hats and stockings and other fragments all dating to the settlement of Greenland.
