RC409 - Heian Japanese Woman's Underwear (Kosode and Hakama) Pattern. Kosode and Nagabakama (underrobe and long pants) as worn by ladies in the Heian Period in Japan 894-1172 ad. Underwear for karaginu-mo! Our full-size paper patterns for kosode and nagabakama, the short white robe and long red pants worn by women under the voluminous robes that comprised a lady's outfit in Japan's Heian Period (894-1172). This pattern includes two styles of knee- to calf-length kosode and the long, trailing nagabakama with instructions for looping up the nagabakama to ankle-length. Fits busts 30.5"-48" and waists 23"-41" with instructions for adjustments to smaller and larger sizes. All Sizes in one envelope. Fabric needed, Kosode: 3 yars of 60" wide. Hakama: 8 yards of at least 45" wide fabric. Suggested fabrics, silk. Notions: Thread. Samuri, Anime, Japanese Fashion, Japanese Heian period woman's clothing.
