The Garments
The Underskirt and Forepart consists of the Forepart, a decorative panel which was worn under an open fronted skirt or gown and an underskirt or petticoat. The Forepart can be sewn directly to the Underskirt, or made to be detachable so that several versions can use the same underskirt.
The Overskirt is cut wide enough to be worn over a farthingale, if desired. (see our Elizabethan Lady’s Underpinnings package). An add-on pattern for making the overskirt with a train will be available soon.
The Bodice can be made up with fastening in the front with hooks and eyes or laces, or with laces at the side backs or center back. Several skirting and shoulder treatment options are included.
The package includes separate pattern pieces for bust cup sizes A/B, C, D, and DD.
The Sleeve is a narrow, two part sleeve with optional front or back openings.
The Hat is a small "flat cap" which sits on the top of the head. Pattern pieces for a flat "beret" crown and or a gathered crown are included. Such caps were often worn over, and pinned to, an undercap called a coif or biggin.
