1899 Bernard Waist Pattern
PAC1954 - 1899 Bernard Waist Pattern. Bust 36". This pattern was published by The Demorest-Ledger Pattern Company. Originally the pattern was described as "The Bernard Waist gives the new and popular effect, tucked and open in the back. It also has the shirt-waist or Bishop sleeve. The front is tucked like a round yoke and the fullness gathered at the belt. The one-piece back has three tiny plaits at the belt, and there is a fitted lining." Minimal directions. Pattern dates circa 1899. Suggested fabrics: Silk, woolen and cotton fabrics. The colors were harmonious or monochromatic schemes heightened with vivid touches of strong color (particularly red). Materials required: 2-7/8 Yards. 36" wide. Past Pattern Attic Copies (PAC) Patterns include original sewing instructions from the Victorian/Edwardian/Titanic era and assume some sewing knowledge.
