RC948 - 1880s to 1900s Late Victorian and Edwardian Mermaid Skirt Pattern by Reconstructing History. The skirt that caused a scandal! This 1890s-1910s skirt pattern will have all the boys following you home from school. This late Victorian and Edwardian mermaid skirt pattern is based on an original pattern from the 1890s. Enjoy the swish of the Gilded Age! This pattern makes a skirt that fits waists 20" through 40", hips 30" through 50" with instructions to alter for larger sizes. This pattern is for the skirt only. This pattern does not include the pictured bodice. To make the bodice, we recommend pattern RC943, though we offer a large selection of complementary bodices and undergarments. All sizes are included in one pattern, along with detailed instructions, period tailoring directions, embellishment suggestions, and historical notes. Suggested Fabrics: worsted wool, heavy linen, heavy cotton twill, or other bottom weights. Notions: thread, buttons, snaps or hooks and eyes for front closure. Yardage Requirements: 4 yards of 60" wide, 5.25 yards of 45", more if napped.
