This 14.5cm Viking sword letter opener has a steel blade and metal handle. It is antique silver plated and is supplied in a clear box with a double-side information card.

The Viking sword was a weapon of the Viking age. The sword was made up of a basic three-part hilt (handle) and a blade. The basic design of the Viking sword lasted until the middle ages.
The hilt comprised of the Pommel, a knob at the end of the sword designed to balance it. The Grip, designed to be held in one hand. Finally there was the cross guard that protected the hand.
The blade was made from steel and was usually double-edged with a channel down the centre.
